West Bengal State Council of Technical Education. Govt. of W.B.:
(A statutory Body under West Bengal Act XXI of 1995 )

WBSCTE is the premier body under Govt. of West Bengal, responsible for monitoring and uplifting the quality of Technical Education in the sate. After strict screening and extensive quality audits, the council has given its affiliation to the IT courses executed at different Brainware centers in the state of West Bengal, India.

The courses covered under the W.B.S.C.T.E. approval are Financial Accounting, DTP, Multimedia, Hardware and Networking and Software Development.

Students undergoing the W.B.S.C.T.E. approved courses have to undergo an examination, followed by a viva voce, conducted by WBSCTE on completion the courses. The certificates are issued to the successful students by WBSCTE and are recognized by employers across the sate.

Apart from the 42 polytechnics in the state of West Bengal, India Polytechnic Institute at Narsinggarh in the state of Tripura, India is also affiliated to the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education. The council has also been entrusted with the responsibilities for conduct of Short Term Vocational Training Programme in different centers and affiliate institutes offering Vocational courses. The Polytechnics offers 3 year Diploma courses in Engineering / Technology (Pharmacy - 2yr and Marine Engineering - 4 year) along with 11/2 year Post Diploma courses and 4 year part - time Evening Diploma Courses. Admission courses. Admission to all Polytechnics is conducted through the joint Entrance Examination.

Departmental Policies :

To import Technical Education and Training to provide substantial number of technicians and crafts man in different disciplines for the emerging industrial fields of the state.

To organize diverse training programmes in various emerging fields for the educated boys and girls of urban as well as rural areas.

To encourage Madhyamik and Higher Secondary passed out candidates towards job oriented programme in order to develop competencies for self-employment.

Enhancement of intake capacity of the existing institution as well as induction of new disciplines in emerging fields.
